Florence Ellen Shields, daughter of Mary Jane Sammons and John Edwin Shields, was born March 15, 1878, in or near Joetta, Hancock Township, Hancock County, Illinois.  She died October 17, 1948, at Harbor General Hospital, Los Angeles County, California; her death certificated specified rural Torrance.  Her remains were brought back to Illinois be buried in the Shields family plot at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Colchester, McDonough County, Illinois.

Florence married first Edward Wyatt Kimbrough on October 17, 1897, at Colchester, McDonough County, Illinois.  Witnessing the marriage were Bessie Jeffries and Wm. R. Yetter.

Edward Wyatt Kimbrough was born October 16, 1872, the son of James William Kimbrough and Nancy Adeline Russell.

In 1899 Florence's younger sister, Lizzie, would become the wife of Edward's younger brother, Alfred.

The children of Florence Shields and Edward Kimbrough were:

i.	Delta Marie Kimbrough, born December 23, 1898, in Illinois, died in May of 1990.  She married John Rundle on June 25, 1919, at Colchester.  John was born March 31, 1897, west of Colchester in McDonough County, died in January of 1967.  They are buried at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
ii.	Ivan Edward Kimbrough, born September 3, 1900, in Illinois, died July 22, 1968, burial at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
iii.	Infant Kimbrough

Florence and Edward were divorced before April 1, 1910.  She subsequently married Jack Schaufele, H. Bruce Hill, and a man whose surname was Shelton.
