| Ray P. Bell was born January 11, 1887, in Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois, according to his WWI Selective Service registration. He was the second of four sons born to In 1910 he married Chloe Dunham, daughter of Sometime between 1917 and 1920 Ray and Chloe relocated to Bushnell, McDonough County. They were also counted in Bushnell at the time of the 1930 Federal Census. Their children were:
When Ray's mother died in late March of 1947, Ray was said to be living in Macomb, McDonough County. |
Peoria, Illinois, December 7, 1947 Mrs. Chloe Bell, 57, of 1024 West Main st., Bushnell, died at 7:45 last night at St. Francis hospital. Mrs. Bell was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ort and Ruth Dunham in Hancock county, Ill., May 25, 1890. She married Ray Bell in 1910. She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Bushnell, the American Legion auxiliary, and the Royal Neighbors. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Lauck of 405 Seventh st., Peoria; two sons, Robert E. and LeRoy Bell, both of Bushnell; two half-sisters, Mrs. Stella Davis of Bloomington and Mrs. Doris Sheets of Macomb; and five grandchildren. Funeral services have been tentatively set for Tuesday afternoon at Bushnell.
