WILLIAM THOMAS MOSS
1834-1913		 & NANCY ELIZABETH MUSTAIN
1836-1863

 

William Moss was married, first, to Nancy Elizabeth Mustain in May of 1856.  She was born August 28, 1836, in Illinois, the daughter of William D. Mustain and Jane Woodside.  Marriage License

Nancy died in 1863 and was buried at Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville, McDonough County, Illinois.  One source indicates she died on March 1, another reports May 1.

William and Nancy were the parents of:

i. Elizabeth Jane Moss, born about 1857, died after June 1, 1870.  William's obituary says daughter Jane died in infancy.  She was enumerated in 1860 at age 3, and again in 1870 at age 13.
 
ii. Laura Moss, buried at Glade City Cemetery.  There are conflicting pieces of information on Laura.  She appears in the 1860 census at the age of 1.  William's obituary says she died in infancy.  A listing of burials at Glade Cemetery indicates that the death date on her tombstone is September 20, 1889.  Karen Madesian advises there is another source that says Laura drowned when she was 16.
 
iii. Florence Agnes Moss, born about 1861.  She married John Thomas Crickett on March 7, 1881, died February 14, 1942, in Raritan Township, Henderson County, Illinois.
