JACOB FRANKLIN "TOBE" MORT
ca. 1869-1919

Jacob Franklin Mort was born about 1869 in Illinois, probably Fountain Green Township, Hancock County.  He was the son of Jacob B. and Jane Oakman Mort.

In the early 1870s the Morts relocated to Kansas, then returned to Hancock County about 10 years later.  Tobe is said to have married Myrtle Nelson and had one son.  Apparently this marriage took place after the Morts returned from Kansas, since the 1900 census recorded Franklin Mort, single, and the 1910 census reported he was divorced.

The 1900 census includes confusing entries.  Listed in Frank's household were two individuals misidentified as his sister and brother, Mattie and Clyde Brownell.

Jacob Franklin Mort died at Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois, January 18, 1919.  His burial location is undetermined.
