SUSAN ENOLIA MARTIN
ca. 1857 - 19__

Susan Enolia Martin was born about 1857 in Illinois, probably in Hire Township, McDonough County.  She was the daughter of Henry J. Martin and Maria Williams.

Never married, for many years Susan made her home with her sister and brother-in-law, Henrietta and John Wertz.  It must have been a satisfactory arrangement because Susan continued to live with John after Henrietta's death in 1914.  Over a span of 30 years they lived in at least five different locations.

John died March 31, 1937, and was buried at Ottumwa Cemetery, Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa.  His brother, Henry, was buried in the same plot in 1946.  We are left to wonder when and where Susan died and was buried.
