Frederick E. Knoedler was born September 15, 1892, the son of Lewis Knoedler and Ida Lee Shields.

He married Eula M. Bowen (ca. 1892-1965) in February of 1914, daughter of Kinzy Hill Bowen and Anna M. Finch.

K. H. Bowen was living in Henderson County, Illinois, in 1870 and 1880, married Anna in 1889 on a McDonough County marriage license.  Eula, their second child, was born about 1891, and in 1900 the family was living in Emmet Township, McDonough County, so Eula may have been born in either Henderson or McDonough County.

When Fred registered for the draft in 1917, he provided the following information:

Fred and Eula's children were:

i. Roy Eldon Knoedler, born May 26, 1916.  He married Darlyne Hall at Macomb on April 16, 1939.  She was born June 12, 1917, the daughter of Ray Helms and Alleyne Hall.  Roy and Darlyne both died December 6, 2001, in East Peoria, Illinois.
 
ii. Robert L. Knoedler, born December 3, 1920.  He died November 13, 1996, in Springfield, Illinois.
 
iii. Richard Knoedler, born about 1928.
 

In later years Fred and Eula made their home in Streator, Illinois.  They are buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Macomb, McDonough County.
