Harvey Russell Cordell, farmer of the Tennessee neighborhood, died Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at a hospital in Peoria, where he had been under treatment for an organic brain disease with which he had been afflicted for the past five months. The body was brought here today to the Martin chapel and will remain there until 9:00 o'clock Saturday morning, when it will be taken to Tennessee, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 o'clock Saturday. The services will be in charge of Rev, H. F. Jones. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery, Macomb. Deceased, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lafayette Cordell, was born in Industry, Sept. 1, 1856, and was at the time of his death 64 years, 11 months and 3 days of age. He had spent all of his life in the vicinity of Industry, Macomb and Tennessee, where he was engaged in farming. Mr. Cordell was married Feb. 16, 1878 [1879] to Sarah E. Brown, who survives. The following children were born to this union: Mrs. Nora Bland, Tennessee; Mrs. Bertha Bland, Macomb; Mrs. Kate Dorethy, Tennessee; Mrs. Nellie Wear, Colchester; Forest Roy [Ray] and Mrs. Ollie Campbell, Colchester. One brother, Thomas Cordell of Brooklyn and one half-brother, Charles Springer of Industry, and one sister, Mrs. Mina Justus of this city survive.

To their union were born eight children, Catherine Dorothy, Alice Alethia, Nora Bland, Bertha Bland, Nellie Wear, Ollie Campbell, Alma E., and Ray Cordell, Lorna Westlake (in whose home she passed away where she received the most loving care). In 1899 the family moved to a farm in Emmet township where they resided until 1901, then making their home two miles west of Tennessee, Ill., until the death of her husband on Aug. 3, 1921. She has since made her home in Tennessee, where she was a kind and loving mother and a thoughtful neighbor, rearing to womanhood her daughter Lorna Sowers, who was her greatest pride and joy in her declining years. She leaves to mourn her death her children, 21 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, one brother Bowman Brown of Moline. Preceding her in death were her husband, two daughters Alice Alethia, and Alma C., one sister, Lucy, three brothers, Robert Brown, John Brown, and Tom Brown. Death came to "Aunt Sallie" at 10:30 Friday morning, April 9, 1937. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Macomb, Frank Williams in charge, Rev. C. B. Snider of Plymouth, officiating.
