MRS. YETTER DIES AT FOUNTAIN GREEN

Lillie Estella Yetter, 71, passed away at 4:15 a.m. this morning at her home in Fountain Green.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Majorville church, and burial will be in Majorville cemetery.  Friends may call at the late residence after this evening, when the body will be removed from the Lady funeral home in Macomb.

The daughter of Isaac N. and Mary Ellen Duffy Hobart, she was born January 29, 1870, in Fountain Green township*.  She was 71 years, five months and three days of age at the time of her death.  Her parents are deceased.

Married to Maurice H. Yetter, who survives, she leaves the following children: Mrs. Roy Rich and Mrs. Irwin Hardisty of LaHarpe, Jenning B. Yetter and Mrs. Paul Anderson of Burlington, Ia., Harry G. Yetter of Colchester, M. Ross Yetter of Carthage, Mabet [sic] Huston of Fountain Green and Fay Hobart Yetter, at home.  One son, Lewis, died in 1912.

She is survived, in addition, by two sisters, mrs. John Heron of Gering, Neb., and Mrs. Will Thompson of Carthage.  One brother, Newton Hobart, preceded her in death.  She leaves twelve grandchildren.

Her parents were both born in Hancock township of Hancock county.

*Lillie's obituary reported she was born in Fountain Green Township.  A biography of her father said all of the Hobart children were born in Hancock Township.  Census records tend to support the latter location.

Her given name, when used, was most often spelled Lillie: marriage license, death certificate and obituary.

Maurice Yetter, Retired Ftn. Green Farmer, Dies

Maurice H. Yetter, 82, of Fountain Green Township died at 4:45 Thursday evening at Norbury Hospital at Jacksonville.  He had been ill the past year.  Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, awaiting word from a grandson in the service.  The services will be held at Majorville Church near Fountain Green, and burial will be in Majorville Cemetery.

He was born April 12, 1871 in Fountain Green Township, a son of Lewis and Martha Wright Yetter, and farmed until his retirement a few years ago.  He was married to Lillie Estella Hobart, Nov. 24, 1892.  She died June 2, 1942.  Eight sons and daughters, Mrs. Alma Rich, Mrs. Mable Huston, Mrs. Naomi Anderson, Mrs. Elgin Hardisty and Fay Yetter, all of LaHarpe; Jennings

Yetter of Burlington, Ia., Harry Yetter of Colchester,and Ross Yetter of Carthage survive. Twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.  A son, Lewis, died in 1912. The deceased was the last surviving member of a family of seven children.

The body will be at the Radden Funeral Home at LaHarpe until Saturday afternoon, when it will be taken to the home of a daughter, Mrs. Anderson, where friends may call.


This published obituary, transcribed verbatim from unknown original news source, is from a scrapbook kept by James Chellis (J. C.) McGee, shared by Cynthia McGee Jackson.  It is hand-dated July 30, 1953.

Maurice Yetter's given name was pronounced "Morris" and was usually spelled that way in censuses and local news items.  His nickname was "Mose".

He was one of the trustees of the Majorville Cemetery Association.

Lewis N. Yetter

Morris Yetter's eldest son, aged about 19 died in Blandinsville Sunday afternoon about 1:30. He had gone with his parents and a brother Sunday afternoon to that town and became very ill. Medical aid was secured but nothing availed to save his life.  He had been afflicted with heart disease for several years and the case was pronounced an incurable one.  The funeral was held at Majorville Church at eleven Tuesday morning, Rev. Mr. Gray conducting the services.
