In Ida's note to Silas she wrote that it was Tuesday.  The clipping shows a date of May 14, 1888. However, the calendar for May 1888 indicates that Tuesday was May 15th, which matches the date inscribed on Ida's tombstone.

Ida's age at the time of her death, 19 Ys, 10 Ms, 25 Ds, calculates to a birth date of June 20, 1868.

A farm located four miles east of Fountain Green, Hancock County, would have been in Hire Township, McDonough County.  George Eakle's farm was in the far northwest corner of Tennessee Township, McDonough County.

Note also that the news story stated that Ida and Silas had been married for six months.  Their marriage documents show they had been married for not quite three months.

The handwritten Board of Health document that accompanied the marriage license is difficult to decipher in some places.  The entries appear to read as follows:

Silas was born in Albany, New York, son of Mephibosheth Wright and Min Simmons.  He was a farmer living in Fountain Green.  This was his second marriage.

Ida was born in Erie [Township, Neosho County], Kansas, daughter of Alva Smith and Dillie "Senet".  Her place of residence was listed as Bradford, Kansas.  (On the license Ida's residence was recorded as Clay County, Kansas.)  This was Ida's first marriage.

John D. Tress, Police Magistrate, performed the marriage at Colchester, McDonough County, on March 27, 1888.  Witnesses were C. W. Parker, Jr., J. E. Hall and C. C. Parker.
