Jessie Marie McGee was the daughter of Marion Pascal McGee and Hannah Belle Mossey. About 1910, Jessie Marie was a student at Woodville School District 105, near Joetta in Hancock Township, Hancock County, Illinois.

Jessie Marie married John Leslie Smith in 1915.  He was born July 3, 1892, in Hancock County in or near Middle Creek, the son of Jesse E. Smith and Ida M. Printy.
