John N. Parker was born about 1843 in Tennessee, the son of Charles Washington Parker and Rebecca Trowell.  He was the second of two little sons who rode in the covered wagon when Charles and Rebecca came to Hancock County, Illinois, in 1846.

Too few years later, John had joined the Union Army and was on his way to the front when he contracted measles and died at Bolivar, Tennessee.

John's body was the first to be placed in Majorville Cemetery, even before the original church was dedicated.  His funeral services were held in the home of Major John Williams, just north and east of the cemetery.

Unfortunately, there was/is no Park County, Tennessee.

There is at least one tombstone at Majorville which records a death earlier than 1862.
Laura Eaton White died in 1860.  We believe she was buried elsewhere and that her remains and/or her marker were moved to Majorville at a later date.
