JOHN THOMAS FLETCHER 1852-1907
LENORA ELIZA SAVIDGE 1851-1927

John Thomas Fletcher was born in the heart of Kentucky, probably in either Madison or Garrard County, on January 28, 1852.  His parents, James D. Fletcher and Martha Wright, are said to have moved to Hancock County, Illinois, in the fall of 1870.

Lenora Eliza Savidge, daughter of George Savidge and Remembrance Budd, would have had no memories of central Ohio, where she was born on January 5, 1851.  The Savidges came to Illinois in 1853.

John and Lenora were married on November 22, 1874, at her parents' home, by Reverend Bushnell of the Congregational Church.  The wording on the license appears to say they were married at "said Savages".  Marriage License  (74k)

Their family was blessed with the addition of an adopted daughter, whom they named:

i.   Minnie L. Fletcher.  She was born September 8, 1881, in Illinois, died in 1965, burial at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Colchester, McDonough County.

About 1894 Minnie was a student at Liberty School in Hancock Township. She married Godfrey Carl Larson about 1903.

John and Lenora farmed in Hancock Township until John's early death, which occurred November 26, 1907.  Lenora then made her home with Minnie and Godfrey.

Lenora died August 25, 1927, in Hancock Township.  Both she and John are buried at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Colchester.
