Carthage, Illinois May 27, 1891 Died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Dameron, two miles northwest of Basco, at 11 o'clock Sunday night, 10th inst., their second daughter, MARY FLORENCE DAMERON, aged 17 years, 4 months and 14 days. Miss Florence had been a great sufferer for several years from an affection [sic] of the spine. She bore her sufferings patiently. She was seldom heard to complain. She was small in stature, but great in spirit. She was quick in her book and had acquired more education than most girls of her age. Her favorite pastime was painting and drawing, in which she had become quite skillful. She possessed an unusually social and amiable disposition; was a great favorite among her companions. None of social gatherings was complete without Florence. It was frequently said of her that she has no enemies. She was converted in the Basco revival last February and joined the M. E. Church. No one doubted the genuineness of her conversion. Her testimonies and ready able prayers were remarkable. She did all the good she could. Her influence for good was felt by a great many. She will long be missed and mourned by a sympathizing community and her many friends and relatives around Basco. Funeral services were conducted from the M. E. Church by Rev. J. N. Dewell on Monday afternoon. The remains of deceased were tenderly laid to rest in a vault west of Basco. The funeral was largely attended.
The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. They extend their thanks to friends for favors during this their affliction. |
