KINZY HILL BOWEN 1866-1933
ANNA M. FINCH 1871-1940

 

Kinzy Hill Bowen was born in 1866 in or near Terre Haute, Henderson County, Illinois, to T. Lafayette Bowen and Sarah Knowles.

Anna M. Finch was born in Henderson County, Illinois, east of Terre Haute, December 18, 1871 or '72.  She was the daughter of William Finch and Ellen Penny.

Kinzy and Anna were married on March 19, 1889, at Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois, by County Judge Lawrence Y. Sherman.  Marriage Documents  (62k, 72k)

In 1900 Kinzy and Anna were farming in Emmet Township, McDonough County, with the first seven of their eventual eight children.  By 1910 they would be in Fountain Green Township, Hancock County, in 1920 they would be living in the town of LaHarpe, and by 1930 they had left the town behind and were living on a farm located in LaHarpe Township.

Kinzy died January 26, 1933, in LaHarpe Township.  Anna survived him by several years, died November 3, 1940, in Durham Township, Hancock County.  They are buried at LaHarpe City Cemetery in the same plot as two of their children, Olive and Walter.

The Bowen children were:

i. Frank Bowen, born about 1890.
 
ii. Eula M. Bowen, born about 1891, died in 1965, burial at Memorial Garden Cemetery, Macomb, McDonough County.
 
iii. Roy G. Bowen, born September 10, 1892, died December 8, 1843.  He is buried at LaHarpe City Cemetery.
 
iv. Olive Esther "Ollie" Bowen, born in 1894, died August 24, 1894, at LaHarpe, buried at LaHarpe City Cemetery.
 
v. Leta May Bowen, born in 1896, married Le Roy Preston Eddington, 1896-1970, in February of 1917.  Roy was the son of Walter J. Eddington and Martha Elizabeth Gordon. Leta died November 4, 1964.  She and Roy are buried at LaHarpe Township Cemetery, LaHarpe.  Roy and Leta farmed just north of Fountain Green in Hancock County for a number of years.  See also: L. vi. Walter J. Bowen, born in 1897, died in 1954.  Burial at LaHarpe City Cemetery.
 
vii. Ralph Bowen, born about 1898.  He died before April 01, 1910, burial location undetermined.  
 
viii. Sarah E. Bowen, born about 1903.
