| FOUNTAIN GREEN CEMETERY HANCOCK COUNTY, ILLINOIS |
| Joseph Hansen Dunn was born November 20, 1854, in Pennsylvania. Our efforts to determine his parents have been stymied.
Amanda Sibert, also called Maddie, was born in McDonough County, Illinois. She was the daughter of The date of birth inscribed on her tombstone is May 11, 1857, but most records suggest she was born in 1856, including an obituary. If she was born in 1856, she was a twin to Fanny, who died in infancy. If Amanda was born in 1857, then she and Fanny were born exactly one year apart. As outrageous as we might consider it, there are a number of examples of incorrect dates on tombstones for people documented on this website.
Joseph and Amanda were married on March 30, 1876, by Rev. Thomas M. Walker. They farmed and raised their family in Fountain Green Township. We presume all of the children were born there.
Joseph survived Amanda by 12 years, died in Macomb, McDonough County, on April 25, 1930. Both he and Sadie were buried at Fountain Green Cemetery, where their shared tombstone also marks the resting place of their daughter, Margaret. Joseph and Amanda's children were:
