Archibald Dorothy was born November 15, 1851*, in or near Fountain Green, Hancock County, Illinois, the son of Nathan W. and Mary Jane Wright Dorothy.

Archibald was first married to Sarah Matilda Allton on December 5, 1872.

Sarah Matilda Allton was born in Illinois in 1851, probably in Fountain Green Township.  She was the daughter of Walter S. Allton and Elizabeth Fancher.  She died in August of 1874 and was buried at Fountain Green Cemetery.  (The deteriorated inscription on her tombstone was previously interpreted as August 1871.)

Their only child was:

Archibald married Mary Belle McDonald at Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois, on November 13, 1879.  Witnesses to the marriage were Scott A. Duffy and Mattie McDonald, Mary Belle's sister. Marriage Documents

Mary Belle was born January 19, 1858, near Fountain Green, Hancock County, Illinois.  She was the daughter of John McDonald and Harriet Talbot.

The children of Archibald Dorothy and Mary Belle McDonald were:

i.	Infant son, born and died between 1880 and 1883, probably in Fountain Green Township, Hancock County, Illinois; burial location undetermined.
ii.	Alta Mae Dorothy, born about 1881, probably in Fountain Green Township, Hancock County, Illinois.  She died after March 27, 1947.

Archibald died December 13, 1882, and was buried at Fountain Green Cemetery.

Mary Belle later married James Parker Bell, becoming Mary Belle Bell.  She died March 27, 1947, in Augusta, Illinois, and was buried at Moss Ridge Cemetery, Carthage, Hancock County.  Obituaries

James and Mary Belle had four sons, all born at Carthage, Hancock County:

i.	Harry Gray Bell, born October 24, 1885.
ii.	Ray P. Bell, born January 11, 1887, at Carthage.
iii.	Earl Nelson Bell, born April 13, 1891.
iv.	Samuel Rufus Bell, born May 2, 1893.
