William Callihan, son of Thomas Callihan, was born in Pennsylvania.  The birth date on his tombstone is February 18, 1821.  There's a problem with either this birth date or that of his brother, Jacob.  The inscription on Jacob's tombstone shows a birth date of September 25, 1820.

William was first married in Pennsylvania, to Angeline Lorance.  She died April 1, 1857, at the age of 33 years, 10 months and 9 days, and was buried at Fountain Green Cemetery, Hancock County, Illinois.

The known children of William and Angeline were:

i. Malinda Callihan, born December 28, 1844, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  She died December 8, 1929, at Webster, Fountain Green Township, Hancock County.  Burial at Webster Cemetery.  Her obituary named her siblings, Sarah, Fannie, Zachary and Henry, and stated that all had preceded her in death.

ii. Sarah E. Callihan, born September 9, 1846, in Pennsylvania.  She died September 6, 1905, at her home in Hancock Township, Hancock County.  Burial at Majorville Cemetery, also in Hancock Township.

iii. Zachariah or Zachary Callihan, born about 1848 in Pennsylvania.

iv. John Henry Callihan, born June 29, 1851 (birth date calculated from tombstone inscription), in Illinois, probably Fountain Green Township.  He died August 19, 1865, and was buried at Fountain Green Cemetery.

v. Frances E. "Fanny" Callihan, born about 1855 in Illinois, probably Fountain Green Township.  She married Jonas J. Troutman about August 10, 1873, in Hancock County.

William married second Miss Eliza Jane Adkins.  He appeared before the Hancock County Clerk on January 28, 1859, and signed an affidavit affirming that he was over the age of 21, she was over the age of 18, and that neither had a living spouse.  They were married on January 30th.
Marriage documents  (91k, 63k)

Eliza was born September 28, 1840 (birth date calculated from tombstone inscription), in Tennessee. She died April 2, 1862, shortly after the birth of son William, and was buried at Fountain Green Cemetery.

The known children of William and Eliza were:

i. Ella Callihan, born January 31, 1860 (birth date calculated from tombstone inscription), probably in Fountain Green Township.  She died June 14, 1860, and was buried in Fountain Green Cemetery.

ii. William M. Callihan, born March 22, 1862 (birth date calculated from tombstone inscription), probably in Fountain Green Township.  He died August 30, 1862.  Interment at Fountain Green Cemetery.

William was married for a third time on November 26, 1863, to Mrs. Margaret Allen (nee Brownlee).  Margaret had previously been married to Delos W. Allen.  She was born August 8, 1836, in Pennsylvania.  Marriage Documents  (77k, 54k)

In 1880 William, Margaret, Margaret's son, Lewis Allen (misspelled Louis in the census listing), and William's grandson, William Reeves (Malinda's son), were in Sedgwick County, Kansas.  By the time of the 1900 Federal Census, they had returned to Hancock County and were living in Fountain Green Township.

William died February 20, 1907, and was buried at Fountain Green Cemetery.

Margaret Brownlee Allen Callihan died January 18, 1918, at the Hancock County Home.  She was buried at Webster Cemetery.
