| Mary M. Goad was born February 15, 1856 (date calculated from tombstone inscription), perhaps in McDonough County, Illinois, the daughter of Robert Goad and On September 12, 1872, Mary became the young bride of Milton Hire. W. E. Withrow, J. P. performed the marriage. Milton, born about 1853 in Illinois, was the son of Jefferson Hire and Mary Ireland, both natives of Ohio. Mary Goad Hire, just 17 years old, may have died from complications of childbirth: an infant son lies buried near her at Friendship Cemetery. |
