| HANCOCK COUNTY, ILLINOIS FAMILIES NEWS MEMORABILIA |
CO. E 67 ILL INF |
| Fidelia Frances Rhea, also known as Delia, was born about 1848 in Illinois. She was the daughter of Sarah Cameron Rhea died when Fidelia was not quite 2 years old, and her brother, Calvin, was about 5. Fidelia apparently was raised by her grandparents, John and Elizabeth Lee Cameron, in Hancock Township, Hancock County, Illinois. She married Martin V. B. Duffie about January 23, 1867, in Hancock County. Martin was born in or near Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland, about 1841, the son of William and his brother, Anthony, who also migrated to Hancock County, spelled their surname differently. The records for Martin, after he left home, are mixed: Enlistment in the service - Duffy
The following details are from the Muster and Descriptive Rolls compiled by the Illinois Adjutant General's Office. Name DUFFY, MARTIN V B
Personal Characteristics
Service Record
Martin was first married about December 17, 1863, in Hancock County, Illinois, to a young lady whose name was something like Anna F. A. Lumbardo. (That surname spelling is non-existent in U.S. census records before 1880 and there are only 15 listings of Lumbardo on Social Security death records.)
On September 18, 1890, Martin filed for a Union Army pension which was subsequently granted. Fidelia died November 3, 1917, in Limestone Township, Peoria County, Illinois. At some point after her death, Martin took up residence in the Illinois Soldiers and Sailors' Home at Quincy, Adams County, Illinois. He apparently died there on September 26, 1920. He was laid to rest at Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville, McDonough County. There is a weak indication that Fidelia was also buried there. The children of Fidelia Rhea and Martin Duffie were:
