JESSE HUNTLEY BECKWITH 1858-1923
ESTHER B. FORD 1873-1967

A photo of Jesse in the barnyard with his racing horse, Silver Dick.
This is Jesse with Silver Dick, the horse that won some races for him.  Jesse's face is unclear due to a shaft of sunlight coming from behind the barn.

Esther B. Ford
Dau. of: Joshua G. Ford
Lydia E. Tyler
b: Dec 28 1873, Warsaw, Hancock Co, IL

d: June 1967 in or near Omaha, NE
burial:

Esther was half-sister to William F. Ford, and Anna M. Ford.  Anna's husband was Jesse Beckwith's second cousin.

When Esther and Jesse married, she was just two days past her 15th birthday, but their marriage papers reported she was 18.

Their marriage location was recorded as Fountain Green.  An entry in the family Bible said they were married at James Simmons' home in "Majorville", Illinois. James Simmons always lived in Fountain Green Township and one of his sons was a witness, so we believe the township to be the accurate location.

Census listings for Jesse show an interesting twist. After he and Esther were divorced, Jesse was reported as a widower in each census.  It seems odd that Jesse, of all people, would have cared enough about public opinion to have stated he was widowed rather than divorced, yet we have those entries to ponder.
