"LUCEDALE - Rev. Ellis W. Scott, 98, died Saturday, July 8, 2000 at the George County Hospital.

Rev. Scott was born in Serepta, MS, on September 19, 1901. He was a retired Methodist minister.

Rev. Scott was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters; his first wife, Loleta Maye (Strange) Scott; his second wife, Mable (Ford) Scott; two sons, Winston Eugene Scott and John Wesley Scott. Survivors include a sister, Mable Strange; two sons and daughters-in-law, Austin Francis (Janiece) Scott and Luther Earl (Roberta) Scott; six grandchildren, Esta Anita Lance, Teresa Roberts, Judy Ross, Delena Cook, Regina Wrigley, Allyson Blakeney; one step-grandchild, William Blansett; eight great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Rev. Scott served churches in Mexia and Coolidge, Texas and Clara, Saucier, Biloxi, Kreole, Laurel, Lumberton, Meridian and Winborn Chapel in Mississippi.

Visitation was held Sunday evening, July 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the George County Funeral Home, Lucedale.

Funeral Services will be today, July 10, at 10 a.m. at the Lucedale First United Methodist Church and 4 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Bailey, MS, with Rev. Chris Cumbest, Rev. Hollis Howell and Rev. Allen Dearing officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Mens Bible Class.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Lucedale United Methodist Church's Ellis Scott Library or the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Ellis Scott Cemetery Fund, in care of Wilma Flanagan, RR 1, Box 184, Bailey, MS 39320."
