Children of William and Jane Elizabeth (Trout) Valentine:

5.1.14.1 John Valentine, was born in about 1843 in Pennsylvania.  He was living in Huston, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, page 10C, marital status single at age 36, working as a plasterer in 1880.

5.1.14.2 Malden Valentine  was born in about 1845 in Pennsylvania.  Malden is listed as having served in Company G, 12th Pennsylvania Cavalry (also known as the 113th Pennsylvania Regiment or the the "Keystone Zouaves" where he is listed as a Third Sergeant).  His muster in was dated 8 january 1862, he was mustered out on 17 February 1865.  I could not locate Malden in the 1870 census after the war.  In 1880 he was living and working in Altoona, Blair County, page 95A, marital status single, age 33, occupation listed as a carpenter.  Malden married late (in about ) and was listed in both the 1900 and 1910 cenuses.  In 1900 his household in Altoona, 4th Ward, Blair County, ED# 48, sheet 4A,address 1215 Seventh Avenue, recorded on the 4th of June consisted of (malden and Ada both stated that they had been married for 15 years; Ada stated that she had given birth to 1 living child; all birthplaces were listed as Pennsylvania):

#73  80  Valentine, Malden    Head        Apr    1848     52    Carpenter
                                Ada    Wife         Sept   1864    35
Hazel  Daughter    Aug    1893      6    At School

In C. B. Clark's Altoona Directory, 1890, he is listed as:

Valentine Malden, carpenter P.R.R. r h 1215 Seventh ave

In the 1910 Federal Census of Altoona, 4th Ward, Blair County, ED# 43 (sheet unreadable--the next sheet filmed was 16B, so I would assume that it was 16A) address 1215 6th Avenue (this looks like the same address as 1900, this was probably 7th Avenue since it matches the 1890 Directory address above) recorded on the 27th of April, his household listed (Malden and Ada both stated that they had been married for 24 years and that this was their 1st marriage; Ada stated that she had given birth to 1 living child; all birthplaces were again recorded as Pennsylvania):

[household #'s not listed]  Valentine, Malden    Head        65    None
                                                         Ada    Wife         44    None
                                                       Hazel  Daughter    16    None

Malden's widow, Ada applied for and is listed in the Civil War Pension Index.  The date is difficult to read but appers to be 1918, the unti listed was "G 12 Pa. Cav."  Their daughter was:

5.1.14.2.1 Hazel Valentine, was born in August 1893 in Pennsylvania.

5.1.14.3 Lucy Valentine, was born in about 1846 in Pennsylvania.

5.1.14.4 Sarah Valentine, was born in about 1852 in Pennsylvania.
