Listed below are the descendants of John Ake and Jemima Tipton.  John was the son of John and Permella (Harrison) Ake.  Subsequent generations are included in Carol Mock and Iona Corle's manuscript, shown below is the "Second Generation", verified from census records.  Text which appears in italics/quotations, is from the manuscript.  I have rearranged the order of their children according to their dates of birth from census records.

"Second Generation"

Helen Arkey's book, "A Compilation of Eck Families Primarily Listing Descendants of Jacob Egg/Eck and Anna Marie Kilcher", gives John Ake Jr.'s date of death as 4 April 1866, in Union Township, Bedford County.

In the 1850 Federal Census of St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, enumerated on 27 September, household #297 298, listed: John Ake, age 53, born in "Pa" and "Jemimah", age 55, also born in "Pa" (the remainder of the 1850 household data is shown below with each of the children listed from Carol Mock and Iona Corle's manuscript).

In the 1860 Federal Census of Union Township, "John Ake, Esq.", age 63, occupation Miller, born in "Md", is living with Joseph Ake, age 15, occupation "Farm Lab.", and Juliann Griffith, age 40 (they are living next door to his son John T. Ake).  His daughter Juliann Griffith may have lived with her father, for a short time after the death of her mother (the census was taken on 23 July, her mother died in February according to the manuscript).  There is a "Jeremiah Ake", listed in the 1860 Pennsylvania Mortality Census, in Union Township, Bedford County, age 63, female, death due to "apoplexy".

"...Wm. Mc Nite Guardian of Lewis Smalley, John A. Smalley, Catherine Smalley, Margaret Smalley, A.P. Wilson Smalley, and Henderson Bower Smalley minor children of Dawson C. Smalley, late of Shirley Township decd.".
After Dawson Smawley's death, Eliza was again listed in the 1860 Federal Census of Shirley Township, Post Office Mount Union, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania (all household members were born in Pa):
#165  162     Eliza    Smalley    40    f                    2,500    300

Ten years later, Eliza was enumerated in the 1870 Federal Census of Mount Union Borough, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.  The household above her may have been her son Lewis (however the first name is unreadable and if it was Lewis he fudged his age by ten years) all family members were born in "Penna":

Eliza (Ake) Smawley, age 64, widowed, was living alone in the 1880 Federal Census of Mount Union, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.  In the adjacent household was the Morris and Margaret Manning household.  Margaret Manning is likely Dawson and Eliza's daughter, in the transcription of Mount Union Cemetery, Morris and Margaret Manning are buried on the same plot as Dawson "Smawley", his marker indicates Dawson died in 1855.

5.5.3 "Julia Ann Ake married Samuel Griffith", Samuel and wife Julia were living in Juniata Township, Blair County in the 1850 Federal Census (all were born in "Pa"):

I was unable to locate the remainder of the Griffith family in the 1860 census.  "Juliann" was listed in the household of her father in the 1860 census (see above).

Henry and Sarah didn't age much in the 1870 Census, they were enumerated living in Altoona, 2nd Ward, Blair County, Pennsylvania recorded on the 22nd of June (all family members were born in Pennsylvania):

Chauncy is listed in the household of his parents in the 1850 census as age 23, born in "Pa".  According to the Mock/Corle manuscript, he died about three weeks after the census was recorded.

5.5.8 "Amelia Ake was born in 1828 and died September 3, 1872 age 44 years 7 months and 17 days.  She married B.R. Emma and Sarah Ake listed in the 1870 household may have been daughters of Gundy or Grundy Ake and his wife Rachel listed below.

5.5.9 "Gundy Felix Ake  was listed in the household of his parents in the 1850 census, as "Felix G. Ake", age is difficult to read [possibly 14], born in "Pa", making his birth in about 1831.  In the 1860 Federal Census of Union Township, Bedford County, there is listed a "Grundy" Ake (all family members were born in "Penna"):

                  Emma    "      3/12      f
                  Ann Fickes      12        f
                  Scott Ickes     14        m
I have not located their household in the 1870 census.  Their is a Clara Ake, age 10, listed in the household of John James, in the 1870 census of St. Clair Township, Bedford County and the two young Ake girls listed in the household of Benjamin and Amelia (Ake) Henderson above.

"Grundy Ake; is listed as enlisting as a Private on 25 February 1865 in B Company, 99th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment.  He was discharged on 31 May 1865.  Rachel Ake later filed for a widow's pension on behalf of her minor son, listed as "now known as" Chauncey Wills or Wells (he may have been adopted).  She listed Grundy Ake's unit as B, 99th Pa. Inf.  Rachel is listed as widowed in the 1880 household of her brother, William H. James in Colerain Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, her age was listed as 42.  None of her children were listed in the 1880 household.

5.5.10 "Catherine Ake was born on November 10, 1833 and died July 9, 1916.  She was married on January 17, 1852 to Charles Augustus Statler who was born on April 12, 1827 and died January 1860."

Catherine is listed in the household of her parents in the 1850 census, as age 17, born in "Pa".

5.5.11 "Martin Ake was born on January 22, 1835 and died August 24, 1839 age 4 years 7 months and 2 days."

5.5.12 Jos. B. Ake, was born in about 1842, is not listed is the manuscript as a son, however he does appear in the John and Jemima Ake household in the 1850 census and is possibly the Joseph Ake living with his father and sister, Julia, in the 1860 census (see above).
