The following information was received by Velma McKay from Julia Flournoy Saffel, on 14 March 1995:

Also from the "Saffell Families USA 1732 - 1978", By Lester Franklin Saffell, Jr. and Opal Irene (Carns) Saffell of Renton Washington; page 243, Charter VII:

"Sarah Saffell married 9 Mar 1779 in Frederick County, Maryland to Kinsey Harrison b 10 Aug 1758 d  9 Jul 1834.  Sarah died after 1844.  He was in the Revolutionary War, as a private in Col Rawlings Reg. and Thomas Beals' Company, for 3 years, to 1779."
G.M. Brumbaugh's "Records of Maryland", Volume 2, page 352 states that:
"Treasurer paid Kinsey Harrison, in 1816, of Anne Arundel Co. Maryland, late a Pvt in the Maryland line."
Kinsey applied for a pension and his certificate was # 7927, issued 18 Mar 1819 and the certificate was sent to Frederick County, Maryland.  He was asked for an inventory of his possessions and on 24 Jun 1820, Kinsey noted the following:
"Had horse, cow, pig, small table, 3 old chairs, small iron pot, 1 iron kettle, 1 water busket, 1 frying pan, 1/2 doz cups & saucers, 1/2 doz knifes & forks, & 1/2 doz plates."
Sarah's pension file (shown above), issued on 16 January 1844, # W9053; on 24 February 1840, she lived in  Carroll County; Maryland and was age 76 years  Her age varies, at one place it states that she was born 10 August 1758, and on the margin of a page, in the Bible, someone in the Archives thought it said she was born in 1772. This could hardy be true since she was married in 1779.
