Stephen was the son of Aaron David Soule I and (15.9) Elizabeth Roxena "Betsey" Harrison. Hannah was Stephen's aunt (his mother, Betsey's eldest sister). Hettie was reared by her grandmother and assisted her in the tailoring/seamstress business. Stephen, Hettie and family made a quick settlement in Harrisonville, Iowa and Gordon, Nebraska, and returned to Michigan. This family was extremely close to Alex I family.
