Loren Longwell was the husband of
Emma Harrison, the daughter of John S. and Mariah
(Baker) Harrison. The following obituary is from the Kalamazoo
Gazette dated July 1930:
“ Loren Longwell, life-long resident of our community passed away at his home in Prairie Ronde on Sunday after a long illness. He was 76 years of age, and had always lived on the Longwell farm.Loren Longwell Dead;
Funeral Service Held
Loren Arnold Longwell, son of Edward Leweller and Eliza O. Leverich Longwell was born in Prairie Ronde Township on Sept. 18th, 1854. He is the last of eleven children and has lived and has lived his entire life on the old homestead where he was born. His father and grandfather Selick Longwell settled on the farm known as the Martin Roberts [farm] in 1829. His mother with her parents located in Prairie Ronde in 1830.
On January 29th 1879, He was united in marriage to Miss Emma Harrison daughter of John S. and Eliza Harrison and Pioneers of Prairie Ronde. They have two sons, Delos S. at home and Owen H. of Chicago and a daughter-in-law Elsie and grand son Wm. Loren Longwell.
Deceased has been in very poor health for over seven years and during that time has endured a lot of suffering. He has been a kind and indulgent father an appreciative companion, a kind neighbor and always ready to help those in need or distress. Besides the family he leaves two nieces Bertha and Fay Ashby and two nieces and four nephews of Cooperstown, N. Dak., and J. Gibbs of Oshtemo and a large circle of friends and has been a member of the M.W. A. Lodge for many years.
Funeral Services were held at the home on Tuesday July 8th, 1930 and were conducted by the Rev. G.W. Maxwell of Schoolcraft. Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery.

Chapin, Bertha Ashby, Mrs. Harry Hooper, Mrs. Charles Orion, Mrs. Ernest Middleton, Mrs. Bertha Harrison, Lester Marion, Mrs. George Brown, Mrs. Marion Stevens, Miss Lisette Stevens, Ross Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Quail, Mr. Theodore Lowry, Mr. Tom Caroy, and Lon Henderson and daughter Mary, all of Kalamazoo, Clarence Brown of Galesburg, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Warner of Paw Paw, Mrs. Jennie Kinney of Lawton, and Mrs. Arthur Harmon of Mattawan.”
