The information below is data taken from research compiled by Harold French in the 1920's and 30's.  Job and Charity Head were Harold French's great-great-grandparents.  Contributed by Frank Carlson, a great great grandson of Nancy Head, who married John B. Benn.  Job and Charity (Hunt) Head, were also the parents of Mehitable or Mabel Head, who married Joshua Whitney.  Frank also contributed a great photo of Job and Charity's daughters online at the Tioga County GenWeb site.

"Job and Charity Hunt Head lived in Ithaca, NY, were flux manufacturers.  Job Head was born June 12, 1791, died about 1874.  Sarah Layton Gardner, a granddaughter, told me that he stayed with her and died about 1874 at the age of 85 years; also that Charity Hunt Head, born February 21, 1791 probably in Muncy, Lycoming Co, PA, died about 1870 in her 79th year.  They are both buried in the Beach Woods Cemetery near Sabinsville, PA."

Job and Charity Head are buried in West Beachwoods Cemetery in Clymer Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, the cemetery is also called Clark Cemetery. The headstones read:

Job Head Died Feb. 8, 1875 Aged 83Ys. 7ms. 23da.

Charity wife of Job Head Died June 6, 1873 AE. 81Ys. 3ms. 15ds.

"In 1925, I was told by Sarah Layton Gardner that on one occasion when the children of Job and Charity came home, each of the girls had a baby in her arms--not one over a year old.  My grandfather, Leroy Benn, was the oldest baby in the group.  The others were: Joe Rogers, Benjamin Bush, Alice Layton, Emma Whitney, Emma Benn, and Emma Brightman."

"In 1932, Marcene Benn, a grandson of Job and Charity, told me many things about the family when I visited him.  He had a great deal of respect for his grandparents and related to me how Charity cooked on a fire place and never had a stove, and how the kids, including himself, liked to go to Charity's house as she was nice to them and they always enjoyed themselves.  He told me Job was in the War of 1812, and owned his own gun.  Job had a brother, Britton Head, whose wife was named Betsey.  Perhaps Ham (Hamilton) Head, a nephew of Job and Charity who lived with them for a while, could possibly have been the son of Britton and Betsey Head.  He also told me that Dan Hunt was the brother of Charity Hunt Head."
