JF  1.  PIERRE¹ BOREL was born Abt. 1722 in Dinan, France^1,2, and died June 18, 1780 in New Orleans, LA³.  He married (1) JEANNE-ELIZABETH TRIDON.  She died Bef. April 1766⁴.  He married (2) CATHERINE TOUPART 1757⁵, daughter of ANTOINE TOUPARD and MAGDALENA LAFETA.  She was born Abt. 1743 in Kaskaskia, Illinois⁶, and died Abt. May 13, 1806.

 

Notes for PIERRE BOREL:

Is this the same Pierre BOREL as the father of Lucie BOREL?  When Catherine LEONARD was born in 1769 to Lucie BOREL, Catherine TOUPART served as the godmother.  This is not proof, and could be indicative of a different relationship, but probably indicates that Pierre LEONARD father of Lucie BOREL was the same as Pierre LEONARD who married Catherine TOUPART.  I have assumed this is true.

 

The 1777 census listing for Pierre BOREL helps to support this somewhat, while at the same time introducing a new question.  Pierre BOREL husband of Catherine TOUPARD is 55 in this census, so born 1722 or so.  He is 20 years older than his wife Catherine, indicating that he was likely married previously.  The only other Pierre BOREL in the records is the father of Lucie BOREL.  But Lucie's birth year as determined from her death record (81 in 1813) is 1732.  If Pierre BOREL is 55 in 1777, thus born in 1722, then Lucie could not have been born in 1732.  I have kept Lucie BOREL as the daughter of Pierre BOREL husband of Catherine TOUPARD, but left her birth year unknown.

Notes for LUCIE BOREL:

Lucie's birth year as determined from her death record (81 in 1813) is 1732.  Because of the age of Lucie's supposed father, 55 in 1777, I have left her birth year unknown.  Ages as given in the death records are notorious for errors, and I believe the evidence, while circumstantial, points to Pierre BOREL husband of Catherine TOUPARD as the father of Lucie BOREL.

Notes for EUGENE BOREL:

The name in the records is given as Fulger, but from other examples I have found that Ulger, Ludger, Fulger and Eugene are often used as the same name.  I suspect this is the same as Eugene, but I am not certain.
