IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. I Joshua HARRISON
of Fairfield District in the State of South Carolina, Planter,
being weak of Body but of Sound and perfect memory (blessed be
to God) do this 14th day of July in the year of our Lord one
thousand Eight Hundred and three, and in the 28th year of American
Independence, make and publish this my last Will and Testament,
in manner and form following. that is to say, first and principally
I commit my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it nothing
doubting but at the General Resurrection I Shall receive again
by the mighty power of God: and my body to be buried in a decent
and Christian manner at the descretion of My Executors, And as
for any Worldly Estate that God Hath Intrusted me With the desposal
of. I give and Bequeath it in the following manner.
First I allow all my just debts to be paid out of my personal
property.
2dly I Give and Bequeath to my beloved wife~ MARY HARRISON The
profits Arising from my Plantation And her living on the same
during her natural life also one third part of all my Stock and
Household Furniture after my debts are paid Excepting what is
hereafter Bequeathed. and at her Decease I do hereby Authorize
my Executors hereinafter mentioned to Sell my Plantation Whereon
GEORGE HARRISON now lives to the Highest bidder and the Nett
proceeds of the Money arising from the Sale of the Land to be
equally divided between my Sons, GEORGE BENJAMIN, FRANCIS, SAMUEL,
and my Daughter MOLLY the wife of THOMAS FARRELE.
3rd give unto My son THOMAS ELZY HARRISON one dollar.
4th. I give to My Son JOHN HARRISON one Dollar.
5th. I Give to My Son WILLIAM HARRISON one Dollar, and my razor-hone.
6th. I Give to my Son JOSHUA HARRISON all my Wearing Apparel.
7th. I Give to my Son DANIEL HARRISON one Dollar.
8th. I Give to My Sons GEORGE BENJAMIN & FRANCIS & SAMUEL
HARRISON and my daughter MOLLY an Equal divide of the price of
the Land as above mentioned, and also an equal part of my personal
property (VIZ) Stock Plantation Tools, and Household Furniture
after my debts are paid, and my said wife MARY HARRISON receive
her Bed, and her third part thereof, only reserving to my said
Daughter MOLLY the Cupboard and its Furniture and her Loom she
now Weaves on and all the Stock of Geese, and I also Give to
my said son SAMUEL one Feather Bed and Furniture and half of
the present Crop of Corn and Fodder, before the Said Devide Shall
take place, and Whereas, there is a quantity of what is commonly
called Lord Fairfax's office, I also Give the Same to my Sons
GEORGE BENJAMIN FRANCES SAMUEL, and Daughter MOLLY HARRISON if
they will go and can recover the Same, If the personal property
should not be in order for Sale, immediately after my decease,
I do hereby Impower the Executors to Mortgage my land to raise
Sixteen pounds which I owe of the price of the said land untill
the Said Stock Should but in Order for Sale.
And I do Authorize constitute and Appoint my Said Wife MARY HARRISON
and my sons JOHN and FRANCIS HARRISON and WILLIAM ROBERTSON Esquire
Executors of this my Will in trust for the intent and purposes
in this my Will contained And to take care and see the Same performed
according to my true Intent. And Meaning ~~~~
In Witness whereof I the said JOSHUA HARRISON have to this my
last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal the day and yeare
above written. In presence of Us Who were personally present
at the Signing and delivery thereof.
