Walnut Grove is a post office in the western part of Knox County, on the west branch of the Verdigris River. The surrounding country is rolling, timbered prairie. The first settlers in this vicinity were H. Groeling, A. and W. Suckup, A. Chicken and H. Grim and his sons. June 1, 1873.
Verdigris Bridge is a country post office located on Verdigris Creek. The first settlers were Andrew G. and Vincent(Wenzel) Suckup, in 1874. J. Burkard came in 1876. Andrew G. Suckup, Jr., was the first child born, in 1876; the first marriage was that of J. Burkard to Miss Margaret Suckup, in 1876, and the first death that of Michael Effle, June 27, 1879.
