Located on the the estuary of the river Clyde, the town of Greenock was known to have been an important industrial and shipbuilding town, which could boast of being home to many famous Scottish personalities.
You may review many pictures of Old Greenock, kindly placed on the net by Edward Dowd
This site only enhances the historical information of Greenock and compliments thei own web page

Unfortunately Mr Dowd's site appears to have disappeared, he had posted some wonderful pictures of Old Greenock which are now lost to all for viewing.
Another excellent site to visit, while you are reviewing the phots of Greenock is the MAP site which allowed you to see the exact location of the places that Edward Dowd's pictures spoke of (a real loss for those of use who were interested in history). The area map circa 1700's will certainly captivate you I am certain.
