     Arthur Gilbert Elston was born on 15 September 1895 at Chertsey, Surrey England; and his birth was recorded at Chertsey record office in the December quarter 1895.^1,2,3 He was the son of Arthur Henry Elston and Annie Tyler.¹ Arthur Gilbert Elston appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Chertsey, Surrey England, as Son, age 5, birthplace Chertsey, Surrey.¹ He married Ella J Howard in 1923; and their marriage was recorded at Chertsey record office in the June quarter 1923.⁴ Arthur Gilbert Elston died in 1979; and his death was recorded at Congleton and Crewe Registration office in the September quarter 1979.³

     Robert Ruthven Tilt was born in 1863 at London England; and his birth was registered in the June quarter 1863 at Newington Registration district.² He was the son of William Brown Tilt and Louisa Brooks.¹ Robert Ruthven Tilt was christened on 12 June 1863 at Holy Trinity, Newington, Surrey England.^1,3 He appeared on the census of 2 April 1871 at 2 Lessness Villas, Lessness Heath, Erith, Kent England, as Son, age 6, birthplace Newington, St Mary, Surrey, and he was a Scholar.⁴ He appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 at 45 Chantry Road, Lambeth, Surrey England, as Son, unmarried, age 17, birthplace Newington, Surrey, and he was an 'Assurance Clerk.⁵' He appeared on the census of 5 April 1891 at 12 Offerton Road, Clapham, London England, as Son, single, age 27, birthplace Newington, Surrey, and he was an Insurance Clerk.⁶ He appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at 40 Baldry Gardens, Streatham, London England, as Son, single, age 37, birthplace London Newington; the Head of the Family was his widowed mother, Louisa, and Robert was an 'Agent Actuary.⁷'


Robert was appointed as Executor and Trustee of the Will Agnes Hillatt Jones and is described by her as 'my Cousin Robert Ruthven Tilt of 40 Baldry Gardens Streatham in the County of Surrey'. Agnes also appointed 'my cousin George Jones of Ashford in the County of Kent Bank Manager and my friend Miss Mary Ann Savory of Wendover in the County of Bucks.' on 16 December 1903.⁸


He married Jessie Nash in 1906 at London England; and their marriage was registered in the June quarter 1906 at St George Hanover Square.^9,10 Robert Ruthven Tilt appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at Epsom, Surrey England, as Head, married 1906, age 47, birthplace London and he was an Actuary.¹¹ He was listed in The Post Office London Directory, 1914. He was on the death of his Cousin, Agnes Hillatt Jones, on 28 December 1928, granted Probate as one of her Exectors and Trustees as follows: 'R.R. Tilt, actuary and Nellie Macculloch...effects...£5,057.1s.4d' on 30 January 1929.⁸ He lived on 1 June 1929 at 9 Queens Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent England.¹⁴ He became joint owner of The Jones Family Grave, with Nellie Mary Ann Waltham (Mrs. Macculloch) on 1 June 1929 after the death of his Cousin, Agnes Hillatt Jones.

The beneficiaries of his Will dated 28 April 1931 with codicil of 11 December 1931, included his Wife Jessie, Brother Frederick Brooks Tilt, and Nieces Mary Lily Tilt, now Mrs Fehr, and Winifred Brooks Tilt. Gross value of estate £19,308. 9s. 5d.^16,9,18

He was commemorated and 'Deeply regretted' in In Memoriam notices in The Times, the two years following his death between 15 December 1932 and 15 December 1933.¹⁹

     Frederick W Dow was born in 1889 at London England; and his birth was recorded at Lewisham Registration office in the March quarter 1889.² He married Alice Amelia Hiley, daughter of Harry Hiley and Alice Emily Watts, in 1912; and their marriage was recorded at West Ham record office in the June quarter 1912.¹

     George Arthur Newcombe was born in 1908 at Berkshire England; and his birth was recorded at Windsor Registration district in the September quarter 1908. His cousins Margaret and Elsie remember George, who was about their age, when they stayed with Auntie Gertie who was ill in bed during the Great War.¹ He was the son of Joseph William Newcombe and Alice Gertrude Beale.¹ George Arthur Newcombe appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 at Windsor, Berkshire England, as age 2.²

      Her married name was Strutton.³ Ena Mary Newcombe was born on 30 December 1911 at Berkshire England; and her birth was recorded at Windsor Registration district in the March quarter 1912.^4,1,2 She was the daughter of Joseph William Newcombe and Alice Gertrude Beale.¹ Ena Mary Newcombe married Robert Walter Strutton in 1937 at Buckinghamshire England; and their marriage was recorded at Eton Registration district in the March quarter 1937.³ Ena Mary Newcombe died on 29 September 1990 at Berkshire England at age 78; and her death was recorded at Bracknell Registration district in October 1990.^2,5

Unknown Hillatt was born circa 1830.¹ He was photographed and it was placed in the Family Photograph Album beside the photograph of William Federick Hillatt Jones, and was taken by the same photographer. Unable to read name on reverse 'Yrs. fatihfully ?? Hillatt Colonel ?? Pompadours' in April 1878 at Ryde, Isle of Wight, Hampshire England.^2,3

     George Edmead was christened on 3 February 1828 at Egham, Surrey England.¹ He was the son of George Meyrick Edmead and Phoebe Higins.¹

     Sarah Stowell was born on 15 March 1840 at Woodham Walter, Essex England.^1,2 She was the daughter of Jeremiah Stowell and Rebecca Philbrook.¹ Sarah Stowell appeared on the census of 6 June 1841 at Woodham Walter, Essex England, as age 1, birthplace Essex.¹ She appeared on the census of 30 March 1851 at Woodham Walter, Essex England, as Daughter, age 10, birthplace Woodham Walter, Essex.³ She appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 at Hoe Mill Barns, Woodham Walter, Essex England, as Head, unmarried, age 40, birthplace Woodham Walter, Essex, and she was an Invalid.⁴ She died in 1882 at Essex England; and her death was recorded at Maldon Registration district in the December quarter 1882.⁵

     Edmund Fenn was christened on 26 April 1863 at Worplesdon, Surrey England; and his birth was recorded at Guildford record office in the June quarter 1863.^1,2 He was the son of George Fenn and Eliza Matlock.¹ Edmund Fenn died in 1868; and his death was recorded at Guildford record office in the September quarter 1868.³

     Henry Daborn was born circa 1659.² He was the son of John Daborn and Jane Boylett.¹ Henry Daborn married Ann Easted, daughter of Henry Easted and Anne Ritchbel, on 15 July 1682 at Saint Mary, Guildford, Surrey England; and Henry was given as from Horsell, and Ann was given as from Bisley.^3,4,5,6 Henry Daborn was a Husbandman on 1 April 1687 at Woking, Surrey England.⁷ He died before 23 December 1735.⁸ He was buried on 23 December 1735 at Horsell, Surrey England.^8,5

      Ann Easted was also known as An Ested.¹ Her married name was Daborn.² She was born on 12 October 1655 at Great Bookham, Surrey England.^2,1 She was the daughter of Henry Easted and Anne Ritchbel.¹ Ann Easted married Henry Daborn, son of John Daborn and Jane Boylett, on 15 July 1682 at Saint Mary, Guildford, Surrey England; and Henry was given as from Horsell, and Ann was given as from Bisley.^2,3,4,5 Ann Easted died before 19 December 1717.⁶ She was buried on 19 December 1717 at Bisley, Surrey England.⁶

     John Scotcher was born on 7 October 1707 at Horsell, Surrey England.² He was the son of James Scotcher and Elizabeth Collyer.^1,2 John Scotcher married Jane Roake, daughter of Richard Roake and Mary Netley, on 13 February 1728 at Bisley, Surrey England.³ John Scotcher died on 14 May 1761 at Horsell, Surrey England, at age 53.

     Phoebe Withers was born in 1869 at Islington, London England.¹ She was the daughter of Theodore Innes Baker Withers and Sarah Ann Culver.¹ Phoebe Withers appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 at Saint Leonards, Shoreditch, London England, as Daughter, age 12, birthplace Islington, London.²

     Robert Mcculloch was born on 17 November 1800; according to his monumental inscription on the family grave in Linlithgow Churchyard.^2,3,4,1 He was the son of Robert Mcculloch and Agnes Bowie.^2,1 Robert Mcculloch was a 'Writer in Airdrie and a Procurator of the Sheriff Court at the Middle Ward of Lanark'. His name was not listed in Register of Members of the Signet. ' The expression 'writer' is often used in its generic sense to indicate the legal profession and so does not always signify membership of the WS society'. 'A procurator is a solicitor who pleads cases in the sheriff court'. The date precedes the Scottish Law list circa 1820.^5,6,7,1 He died on 28 December 1822 at age 22; in Scotland and 'appears to have died young.^8,9' He was buried after 28 December 1822 at Saint Michael's Church, Linlithgow, West Lothian Scotland; Robert's monumental inscription on the family grave in St Michael's Linlithgow Churchyard reads as follows:
