      Cecil Thomas Hancock was also known as Thomas Cecil Hancock.4 He was born in 1896 at Hampshire, England; and his birth as Cecil Thomas Hancock was recorded at Winchester Registration district in the June quarter 1896.4,5,2 He was the son of Thomas Henry Hancock and Mary Jane Turner.4 Cecil Thomas Hancock served in the Army during the Great War [WWI] and The National Archives contain his War Service Records. On 21 October 1915 he singed forms to learn to be a Motor Transport Driver.
He described himself as a Clerk of 51 Westborough Road, Southsea, age 21 years and 6 months on his Attestation Papers dated 1917. on 21 October 1915.1 He died on 6 December 1918 at 84th General Hospital, Da es Salaam, Tanganyika; and his Great-niece writes: 'my grandfather, Jack, had a brother, Thomas Cecil Hancock...all I know about him is that he joined the Army Services Corp soon after World War I, served in Egypt, died of influenza and [was] buried in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania in December of 1918'.
