     Raphael Lewisohn was born in 1863 at France; and he was 'a member of the Lewisohn Family of New York who were pioneers in the development of extensive copper-mines throughout the U.S.A.1,2,3,4,5' He married Rebecca Solomon on 19 July 1883 at Inverness Terrace, Hyde Park, London England; and their marriage was registered in the September quarter 1883 at Kensington Registration district; it was announced two days later in The Times.1,6,7 Raphael Lewisohn and Rebecca Solomon are known to have had two children Beatrice and Claude, who married about age 60 and died in 1968.1,5 Raphael Lewisohn was recorded as arriving at Ellis Island, New York, United States of America on the Augusta Victoria on which he had embarked at Cherbourg, France, as a married Artist Painter, age 33, on 31 October 1896.3 He was recorded as arriving at Ellis Island, New York, United States of America on the Kronprinzessin Cecilie on which he had embarked at Cherbourg, France, as a married Artist Painter, age 44, 'U.S. Citizen' on 10 September 1907.8 He was recorded as arriving at Ellis Island, New York, United States of America on theLa Provence on which he had embarked at 'Havre', France, as a married French Artist Painter, age 45, from Biarritz, France, nearest relative mother, Mrs Pauline Lewisohn on 21 November 1908.9 He was the artist whose 'two pastels of man with hat' and 'a sailor' were put up for auction in France in 2008. A year earlier an oil painting 'Sous-bois' was also auctioned and an example of his work 'Oxcart' in olis is on the AskArt website plus a mention of a third oil painting 'Matin d'ete'. Three more works of his illusted on the internet are: 'Blondinette' dated 1906, 'Sydlansk Torgbild Med Tre Kvinnor' dated 1909, and 'La marchande de fleurs, St. Jean de Lutz', dated 1909, sold between 1993 and 1994.10,11,12,13 He died in 1923.2

      Her married name was Lewisohn.1 Rebecca Solomon was born circa 1860; and her parents were Henry Solomon born 1813, and Sarah Adler.1 She married Raphael Lewisohn on 19 July 1883 at Inverness Terrace, Hyde Park, London England; and their marriage was registered in the September quarter 1883 at Kensington Registration district; it was announced two days later in The Times.1,2,3 Rebecca Solomon and Raphael Lewisohn are known to have had two children Beatrice and Claude, who married about age 60 and died in 1968.1,4 Rebecca Solomon appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at 53 Wynnsley Gardens, Kensington, London England, as Head, widow, age 41, birthplace London, England, and she had 'Independent Means'. She was living with her Daughter Beatrice, Son Claude and Niece Emmy Jacob. A Domestic Help and a Cook Housekeeper completed the household.5 She lived between 1907 and 1910 at 20 Kensington Court Gardens, Kensington, London England.6 She died circa 1930.4
