From http://www.hutchinsongenealogy.net/
Note: BIRTH: Sanborn says this man's father was named "John" not "William," but William Hutchinson of Lincoln was born about 1480 and had a son, John, born 1515 [authenticated by The College of Arms, London]. If that John is the same John who is brother to William, Thomas, and Christopher, then all four boys [and their sister, Alice Remington] have a father named William. MARRIAGE: He married twice; first Margaret Browne; second, Anne Clint, widow. CHILDREN: Listed in the Will, William is eldest son. By first wife - William, Thomas, John, Arthur, Jane, Alice. By second wife - Edward and Mary. "The Hutchinson Family" in the Narragansett Historical Register, [volume and number missing], p. 172. Col. Chester assigns the husbands of Jane and Alice above (assigned in other sources to this generation), to the next generation, the daughters (Jane and Alice) of William and Margaret Sissons Hutchinson. This is supported by the apprenticeship of William's son, Edward to "his brother-in=law Edmund Knight." See notes for Edward Hutchinson, son of John and Anne, this generation. BIOGRAPHY: He was Sheriff of Lincoln in 1547; Alderman April 11, 1556, and Lord Mayor of London in September, 1556. In 1558 and 1561, he was Justice of the Peace, and was again Mayor from September, 1564 until May 24, 1565, when he died. OCCUPATION: Was apprenticed, September 23, 1529, for seven years, to Edward Atkinson. NEHGR, Vol. 20, Oct 1866, p. 357. Sheriff of Lincoln in 1547, Alderman in 1556, Mayor in 1556 and 1564, holding the latter office at the time of his death, 24 May 1565. "The Hutchinson Family" in the Narragansett Historical Register, [volume and number missing], p. 172. LAND: Possessed considerable property and left lands and houses to his sons, all named in the Will. "The Hutchinson Family" in the Narragansett Historical Register, [volume and number missing], p. 172. DEATH: His will was dated April 21, 1565, and was proved June 14, 1565. PROBATE: To be buried in the parish church of St. Mary in Wigford. To wife Anne the half part of all my household stuff, my legacies being first performed, one dozen of silver spoons of the maiden head (and other silver). To daughters Alice and Mary forty pounds to be evenly divided between them and to be delivered unto them at the age of twenty one years or day of marriage. William Hochinson my eldest son. My sons Thomas, John, Arthur, and Edward. To every one his portion at age of twenty one. To Jane Knight my daughter six silver spoons with round knobs. To Edmund Knight my son in law a riall of gold. To my sister Browne on old angel and to either of my brother Browne's sons one French crown. To my cousin Christofer Hochinson two five [25 ?] shillings. I will that Katherine Maltby, widow, shall have her house rent free for life after my decease. Edmund Knight, my son in law, shall have the order, rule and government of Alice my daughter and of her portion until of age or married. My wife shall have the order and bringing up of Edward my son and Mary my daughter and the governance of their portions. John Graye shall have the custody of Arthur my son and of his portion. I bequeath to every one of my wife's children one angel of gold or in money then shillings. I make and ordain William my son and John Greye of Lowth my executors and to the said John Grey, for his pains and travell herein to be taken, I give and bequeath one piece of gold that was Mr. Atkinson's and my ring of gold which is my signet. I make my brother Leonard Browne and John Welcombe, citizen of the said city supervisors. Signed John Hutchinson. Then follows his will disposing of real estate, including messuages etc. in St. Mary's Wigford in the suburbs of the City, St. Peter at Gootes (Gowts or Gates) the rectory, parsonage etc. of Cherry Willingham and the advowson, patronage etc. of the vicarage there, messuages, lands, etc. in Whysbie, a tenement in St. Botulph's, tenements etc in the parish of St. Mark the Evangelist, a toft and dove cote in St. Swithin's in the suburbs, etc. NEHGR, Vol. 51, pp. 119-120. BURIAL: He was interred in the church of St. Mary le Wigford, Lincoln. ARMS: In 1634 during the Visitation of Lincolnshire, Thomas Hutchinson, of Thedlethorpe, Lincolnshire, [descendant of the Lord Mayor John's brother, William] presented his pedigree to the heralds and claimed the arms of the Hutchinsons of Yorkshire, but failed to establish his right to their use. The pedigree he presented is in the files but marked "Respited for Proof." The requested proof was never furnished nor have the arms ever been granted or confirmed to any member of the family in this line. As this Thomas Hutchinson was born before the death of Edward Hutchinson of Wykeham Abbey, to whom the arms had been of right confirmed in 1581, there could have been no difficulty in establishing a connection, if any had existed. NEHGR, Vol. 20, p. 367.

BIRTH: In a volume of the Harlein MSS. (No. 1550, folio 174(b) [British Museum], being a copy of "The Visitation of Lincolnshire made in 1544 by Robert Cook, Chester Herald, continued and enlarged with the Visitation made in 1592, by Richard Mundy," is a pedigree of Marbury, in which occurs the name of Francis, to whom two wives are assigned, and by the second of which he had a daughter "Anne married to William Hutchinson of Lincoln." Her mother is described as "Bridget, sister of Sir Erasmus Dreyden, of the county of Northampton, Kt. and Bart." The Dreyden pedigree at Herald's College is also silent as to this match, but in the Harlein MSS. No. 1553, folio 13 (b), being Richard Mundy's copy of the Visitations of Northamptonshire of 1566 and 1619, with additions from Mr. Vincent's collections, etc., the name of Bridget Dreyden occurs, and she is described as the "wife of Francis Marvury of Aufford [Alford] in the county of Lincoln." NEHGR, Vol. 20, p. 365. MARRIAGE: Torrey lists the location of this marriage as "St. Mary, Woodnoth, London." Peter Orlando Hutchinson says about the Pedigree produced for the Blunt and Marbury families, based on the Visitation of Lincolnshire, "it appears that he [William Hutchinson] married Anne, daughter of Rev. Francis Marbury and his wife Bridget, sister of Sir Erasmus Dryden, of Canons Ashby, Bart." Diary and Letters of Thomas Hutchinson, p. 460. BIOGRAPHY: Admitted to the First Church of Boston - "2nd of 9th moneth 1634, Anne Hutchinson, ye wife of our brother Willm Hutchinson." Diary and Letters of Thomas Hutchinson, p. 462. DEATH: After her husband's death in Rhode Island, Ann "left that place with her family, and settled upon some land near Stamford, in Connecticut, that was in dispute between the Dutch and the Indians...attacked and murdered her, with most of her children and servants, to the number of sixteen persons." Diary and Letters of Thomas Hutchinson, p. 461.

(the Anne Hutchinson, Antinomian leader, banished from Massachusetts for heresy)

Anne Marbury was the daughter of Rev. Francis Marbury and Bridget Dryden. She was baptized on July 20, 1591 at Alford, Lincolnshire, England. On August 6, 1612, she was married to a textile merchant, William Hutchinson, at St. Mary's Parish at Woolnoth, London, England. In July 1634, Anne, William and their brood of children emigrated to America, where they arrived on September 18 and settled in Boston, part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Anne led a quiet life as a housewife and a midwife. She held weekly meetings with other woman to discuss the Sunday sermons. Eventually, these meeting attracted a larger following. The historically simple explanation of the problems that eventually befell her was that her belief in the covenant of grace versus the covenant of works led some, particularly the Puritan leadership of Massachusetts Bay, to view her as an antinomian heretic. More than likely, the situation was more multi-faceted than this. Anne was subsequently tried and convicted of heresy, and in 1637, she was banished from the Massachusetts Bay Colony by Governor John Winthrop. In 1638, she established a settlement on the island of Aquidneck (Rhode Island) with some of her followers. After her husband, William Hutchinson, died in 1642, Anne removed with her younger children to an isolated, wooded area on Long Island Sound (now Scarsdale, New York). In 1643, Anne, all of her servants and her younger children, except one, were massacred by Indians. Her ten-year-old daughter, Susannah, was the sole survivor of this massacre.
