The cause of death was Hypostatic congestion of lungs due to mitral valve insufficiency. He was buried in Leroy Cemetery, Barton County, Missouri. He married 8, 9 Mary Ann Elizabeth Wilson on 9 Apr 1882 in Hallsville, Boone, Missouri.

prob. grandparents were Allen & Sarah Rouse, first of Kentucky, then of Missouri; possibly son of Simeon Rouse or another son

listed, age 48, in 1900 Leroy, Barton, MO with family -- married 18 years
listed, age 28, with grandmother Sarah (age 65) in 1880 Rocky Fork, Boone Co, MO census
possible listing, age 17, as farmhand for Barbour family in 1870 Salt River, Ralls Co, MO census
probable listing, age 8, with Simeon P. Rouse family in 1860 Rocky Fork, Boone, MO -- HOWEVER, may not be his family as there is another William & another 8-year old living in the household

From 1870 prior, a Sarah matching the above listing for William's grandmother was married to Allen Rouse, living in Boone Co, MO. Allen was born about 1800/10 in KY.
Children of Allen & Sarah and/or Allen & an earlier wife appear to be:
Melissa J., b. 1838 KY
George W. b. 1839 KY
Isaac T., b. 1840 MO
Nicholas G.., b. 1845 MO
Thomas A., b. 1847 MO
Sarah Margaret, b. 1850 MO
Allen may also have been the father of Simeon P., b. 1828 in KY. A child of Simeon's age was listed with the family in the 1840 and earlier censuses.

Allen was probably brother to Alfred I., b. about 1803 in KY, and also of Boone Co, MO. Alfred was married to Mahala (b. about 1820 in KY). These two represent the early Rouse families in Boone Co., MO.
Children of Alfred & Mahala and/or Alfred & an earlier wife appear to be:
Sarah, b. 1830 KY
William, b. 1832 KY
John S., b. 1834 KY
Jefferson, b. 1836 MO
Mary, b. 1838 MO
Franklin, b. 1838 MO
James H., b. 1840 MO
Martha,. b. 1848 MO
Nancy, b. 1850 MO
Amanda, b. 1852 MO
Lana/Laura, b. 1854 MO
Letitia, b. 1856 MO
Alfred may also have been the father to David A., b. about 1823 in KY. David named a daughter Mahala and lived near Alfred for several censuses.

Allen & Alfred may have had a brother, Simeon, who appears only once in the 1840 Boone Co census with no apparent male children living with him, and only 1 daughter (aged 15-20). Either this Simeon or the above Simeon (assumed son of Allen) married Susan A. Reams in 1848 in Monroe Co. MO. Entry reads Simeon K. Rouse....

"Making A Neighborhood." David D. Banta, Republican Print, 1887.
"But let us linger a little in the dead past. Shortly before the war for Independence a swarm from the Dutch hive in and round about Hackensack, in New Jersey migrated and for a season, lodged at a place they called Conawago, in Adams county, Pennsylvania, close by Gettysburg, a place made famous by one of the best fought battles of the late war. There they built a church, a school house, and made farms. After the close of the war many of them once more setting their faces to the Western sun, ultimately took up their abode in Kentucky, most of them at the first in Mercer county. It is doubtless true the original purpose when they left New Jersey was to cross the mountains sooner or later, and it is certain this was accomplished as soon as it became apparent that the Kentucky pioneers by their numbers, gave promise of protection from the Indians. Doubtless there was more than one migration into Kentucky from Conawago, but all were connected by ties of nationality, by a common faith and most of them were akin. Of these old Conawago families that moved to Kentucky the following are familiar as household words to all of us: BREWERS, BRUNERS, BANTAS, BICES, BERGENS, CARNINES, COVERTS, DEMAREES, DEMOTTS, LAGRANGES, LISTS, LUYSTERS, MONFORTS, SHUCKS, SMOCKS, VANNUYSES, VANARSDALLS, VANDIVERS, VORISES. True to their traditions these descendants of the Knickerbockers founded churches, built school houses, opened farms, made tan yards, constructed mills, in a word, practiced all sorts of handicraft, and thus did their full share towards developing their country."

Martha E. Purcell [Parents] 1 was born 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 on 1 Oct 1847 in Hancock Co, Indiana. She died after 1920. She married 10, 11, 12 Abram Brewer on 6 Dec 1871 in Hancock County, Indiana.
