'Jonas Austen of Staplehurst, county Kent, and of Cambridge, Hingham, and Taunton, Mass, was baptized at Staplehurst 3 December 1598, and died at Taunton, Mass 30 July 1683. He married first, at Tenterden, 22 January 1626/7, Constance Robinson, widow of William, the testator of 1625. She was probably Robinson's second wife, and mother only of Lydia among the Robinson children. She died at Taunton 22 April 1667. He married secondly 14 December 1667 Frances Hill of 'Onckite'. Jonas and Constance Austen, with their children, sailed for New England in teh Hercules in March 1624/5.'
