Poor Asa had to get his 15-month immunizations plus flu shot yesterday afternoon.  4 shots!  On the other hand, I had a  better treat waiting for him when he got home than usual, since we headed straight out for trick or treating.

Today he made his very own bread!  He really did.  It was an easy recipe and one that he could eat at every stage.  Here is the rough recipe:

1/2 cup rice flour (or other flour)
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1/2 tsp butter (melted or really soft)
we also added a sprinkling of ginger to give it flavor

It was taken today.  Today was the first day I really saw him realize that walking was a method of getting around.  He's started walking to things that are nearby instead of crawling.

Other advancements:
He can be handed a whole peach to eat instead of little bits. This week he's taken several unsupported steps (the first of these were on the 17th).  He's still not sure about it, and the steps are a little more like a sidle than like walking, but it's still steps.

Also, he has learned to stand up on his own.  This seems like a skill he's now had for a while, but he is using it more. He also climbed up the slide, but I didn't get that on video.  He can climb a whole flight of stairs by himself.  He can also get down from his climber platform by dangling from the open side (although this is scary to watch!).

Sadly though, he seems to be allergic to grass. He crawls into the kitchen and then, seconds before the face dive/hand splash, I grab him and carry him across the house, whereupon we start all over.  He giggles and giggles when he is going after it, and turns around and grins at me as he crawls away.  Does he know all about trouble or what?!

He's also maybe saying "mama" and "booh" (for book).  It's hard to be sure he means it, but he certainly is consistent about it now. He's doing a combination of rolling, army crawling, and sitting up and scooting, but he's mostly able to get to where he wants to be. Usually this is getting to:

a) a piece of lint on the carpet which will immediately be eaten (usually the lint derives from the dog shaking the cotton out of his toys -- see b)

Asa is still waking up to cry hysterically for 2 consecutive hours every night, usually between 2 and 4 am. I am soliciting suggestions now. Nothing we do seems to be a solution (although patting him and feeding him both sometimes work).
