Asa and His Slide
Here is a video of Asa going down his new slide:
He also climbed up the slide, but I didn't get that on video. He can climb a whole flight of stairs by himself. He can also get down from his climber platform by dangling from the open side (although this is scary to watch!).
Sadly though, he seems to be allergic to grass. Every time we go outside, his nose turns into a little faucet, and he's had a mild rash. I thought initially that it was just a cold, and it might be, but I'm beginning to think not.
Also, our big excitement of yesterday was that I asked him at breakfast if he was all done and he shook his head! Then I asked if he wanted more and he nodded! We still have to wait for replication of these skills, although the shaking of head thing has been fairly consistent across some other settings. He also seems to be using the baby sign for "eat" which is nice. And when he is REALLY tired, he will crawl to the bottom of the stairs and whine... not exactly what I was looking for, but communication nonetheless!
Asa has been doing well in the occasional child care situation. There are two other babies his age and they parallel play together. We had another group of babies together recently also, and it was very cute. He and another little boy sat on the floor and ate puffs together and occasionally traded cups (meaning that one would take the other's cup, so the first would retaliate). And they climbed on the big bear in the library together and pulled up on one another like jungle gyms. Very advanced social skills.
Countdown to ring bearing duties is t-9 today! He has an outfit, but no shoes. I've looked for little white baby shoes, but so far am just finding sneakers and sandals. Little girls have dress up shoes, but boys don't. Grr. I will have to continue looking. His sandals are not really appropriate.
