OBITUARY:

Mrs. William (Margaret Elizabeth) Shock, a highly esteemed resident of South Shannon St., van Wert, died at 9:00 a.m. this morning at her home due to heart trouble. She became ill Wednesday and her condition was very critical from the first. Mrs. Shock, who was about 65 years of age, was a native of Allentown and is survived by her husband, William Shock, a Shannon Street grocer and eleven children. Definite arrangements have not been made for the funeral services awaiting a message from a son residing in Texas. Service will probably be held Monday, with burial at Allentown, Allen County, Ohio. She was a daughter of Rev. William and Malinda (Brenneman) Kiracofe, and was born in Augusta County, Virginia, April 12, 1851 and departed this life February 1, 1919, ages 67 years, 9 months and 19 days. She came with her parents to Ohio in 1857, making the trip by wagon which was the custom travel in that day and settled in Allen County where they resided until about six years ago when she with her husband moved to Van Wert, Ohio. She was a family of ten children, seven of who are still living as follows: John L. Kiracofe, Padding, Ohio; Charles W. Kiracofe, Fort Wayne, Indiana; Newton I. Kiracofe, Wren, Ohio; James S. Kiracofe, Wren, Ohio; Sarah Baxter, Delphos, Ohio; Alice Hullinger, Ada, Ohio; Lockey Strayer, Delphos, Ohio. She was united in marriage to William Shock, April 25, 1872, in Allen County by the Rev. J. L. Luttrell. To this union were born fourteen children, eleven of who survive her. Their names are as follows: Rev. J. W. Shock of columbus Grove; C. A. Shock of Sherman, Texas; James Stewart of Van Wert, Ohio; Arvilla Cary and Elva Shinabery of Lima, Ohio; Reuben Roy Shock of Lima, Ohio; Mary Malinda ("Linnie") Bowers of Delphos, Ohio; Mertie Belle Dershem of Delphos, Ohio; Harley Otterbein Shock of Elida, Ohio; Ira Shock, Kempton, Ohio; and Miss Lutie Pearl of van Wert, Ohio. There are 29 grandchildren. She heard the call of God in early childhood and yielded her life to Him and was converted and at once became a member of the United Brethren in Christ at the Honey Run Church of Elida Charge. She had been a faithful member of the Church all her days. It was a joy of her life to go to Church and hear the preaching of the Word of God. The last time she was away from her home was to attend the services at the Church. "She was a dear, good woman," is the testimony on every hand. A devoted wife and a kid loving mother. Words cannot express how much she will be missed in the home. But she left a heritage to her family which is worth more than all the world. Let us live so that we may meet her some day beyond the setting sun, where she will be waiting for us. She leaves, therefore, to mourn her departure her family, many neighbors and friends, but we need not mourn as those who have to hope.
