Henry was born in Mill Creek Twp and lived on the farm there as a farmer until about 1901....when Vera was 6 month old. The family moved to Clark and Henry was in the business of building houses. Many of these were in Coshocton and about 1905 the family moved to this city. In Coshocton he opened a lumber yard and worked it with the sons Lloyd and Frank. Sometime before 1914 the lumber yard burned and there was no insurance. He then entered the timber business. He was cutting local timber and making it into railroad ties. Lloyd did some of the selling, Henry retired about 1928.
The house that Henry rented in Clark was owned by Helen Luke Ports widow of Christian Ports.

On 2/24/94 I visited the WRHS and examined the book, 'Pennsylvania in 1800'. The onlyConrad name that looked close was Jacob Conrad living in Somerset Township, Washington County page 114:10.
I found a typed listing of inhabitants of Holmes County school district #4 dated Feb. 1830. This list is of 25 families and included George and James Elliott and Jacob Conrad. District #4 is described as- - - - ;
"Beginning at the S.E. corner of Lot #9, thence south to the S.E. corner of the fraction on Sec. 3, thence west to the S.W. corner of Lot #34, thence North to the S.W. corner of Lot #27, thence East to the S.E. corner of Lot #11, thence South to the S.W. corner of Lot #9, thence East to the place of the beginning."
In searching for information about the Conrad's in Western PA I visited the Washington, PA library and in a index of Will Book #2 page 175 there is a Henry Conrad of Pike Run Township; his wife is Sarah and he has sons John & William - it is April 8, 1808.
