A gentle meander through the lives of my ancestors and their seaside village of Seaford in County Sussex, England
In 1848 my G-G-Grandparents, William Banks and Elizabeth Burgess were married in Seaford, Sussex, England. One hundred years earlier John Banks and Ann Hursel were marrying and bearing children in that same little village and one hundred years later I was born, also in Seaford. Individuals who married into the Banks line were, if not from Seaford itself, from the nearby villages. For this reason I decided to develop a One-Place Study of Seaford and the people who have dwelt there since before Roman times. I was fascinated by the lives of my ancestors, the grandfather who ran away to sea and became a stalwart character in the community; my ancestor who was a postman at a time when the horse and wagon was being replaced by the car; my 3x g-grandmother, in her eighties, still working and running her boot and harness making business long after her husband had died. This web site is the result of my continuing research.
As with any ongoing study, this site is under constant development. If you have any information regarding the families mentioned here, please e-mail, me.
