Martin Keener married Sarah Barnes on January 02, 1802.  He was married first to another Barnes, probably an older sister of Sarah.  Most, if not all, of the children were born to the unknown Barnes and perhaps not all of the children have been identified.  From a list provided by four researchers, all agree on Joseph, Martin Jr., John, Jacob and Moses which have been identified in land and tax records of White County, TN.  Casper, who died of measles during the early part of the war, appeared on three lists as did Michael Keener who was found in Van Buren County, TN.

Martin Keener sold his property in Lincoln County, NC in 1805 and moved his family west, eventually settling in White County, TN
