Married Aug. 7, 1867. Military, 1861, Cotton Huff, Clay Co., Ga. He was in the Co. F and was sent Savannah, Ga. in 1861. He was wounded in his left knee and was sent to Mt. Pleasant Hospital in South Carolina. He was discharged from the service when Gen. Robert E. Lee surrendered.
He and his wife homesteaded in Randolph Co., Ga. in 1868. They had 2 small children at the time, twins.
They died in infancy.
The county became Randolph Co. in 1850 out of Cook and Lee Counties.

Sept. 6, 1942, a message was received stating that he was reported missing in action. He was an ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was 25 years old and a graduate of Edison High School, Norman Jr. College of Norman Park, of Mercer University in Macon. Before enlisting in The Navy, he taught school and played professional baseball.
A plaque was put in Mars Hill Cemetery after the death of his mother, Lidie Andrews Smith.

Ronald Taylor and Bobby Henderson.
Honorary pallbearers were Glynn Enfinger, Charles Shierling, Sonny Rollo,
Jackie Lee Clark, Buddy Gentry and Buddy Lucas.
