KILLINGSWORTH: Fort Gaines Sentinel 21 Apr 1905 [Fort Gaines, Clay Co GA] “Died at Fitzgerald.” “Through a telegram to the immediate members of the family here, it was learned that on Wednesday morning at 4:15 o’clock, Mr. Thomas Killingsworth had died suddenly at his home at Fitzgerald. Messrs. H T and L M Killingsworth at once left to be with the bereaved family at Fitzgerald, and to assist in bringing the remains to the old home of the deceased for interment. The arrangements were wired, as follows: The remains to arrive at Fort Gaines Thursday (yesterday) afternoon, and remain here that night. Today they will be escorted to Mr. Zion church, on the Bluffton and Fort Gaines road, and interred in the family burial lot there. Mr. Killingsworth was a native of Clay county, and had lived most of his life here, where he was known and esteemed as one of the best citizens the county ever possessed. He removed, with his present family, to Irwin county in 1899, and was in the 64th year of his age at the time of his death. He leaves, besides a large number of friends and acquaintances to mourn his departure, a devoted wife, four sons, Messrs. E W, H T, L M, and John; five daughters, Mrs. J W Foster, Mrs W G Whidden, Misses Jessie, Minnie and Erie. The three first named sons and the two married daughters are residents of Fort Gaines and Clay county, while the remaining son and daughters were members of the family at Fitzgerald. The sympathies of our people are extended to the bereaved ones.
