Orah Evalene Roberts (Ora as she called herself) was born in Kentucky. Ora's birth-mother died when Ora was five years of age, and her father remarried Nanny Harvey.
Ora was a "pioneer" of the first degree, and cared for her family in early married life in a half-dugout in New Mexico. A busy Mother, Ora canned and preserved food stuffs for her growing family. After moving to Oklahoma, three more children blessed the household and the "home place" grew... the family farm had a large red barn (blown away by twice by tornados) and several stock buildings where milking, and raising of chickens and pigs took place. When a well was dug, there was then a pump house or "wash house" as they called it, which provided the required water pressure for the two story home. The "home place" is still standing and in use as a residence, but ownership has passed from the Roberts family.
