This part of my genealogy site is dedicated to Wade "Hamp" Wishon, my great, great grandfather. It is only of late that I have come to know more of this man, and have begun to truly appreciate the life that he lived, the hardness and the richness of it.

I hope that as you read my offering on the facts and the stories of his life, you too will come to appreciate the life that he carved out of the rugged Ozark Mountains. Maybe for some of you, all of this is just a repeat of things that you already know. I hope that you will approach it from a fresh perspective and maybe even learn something.

I must provide here some type of disclaimer. The information, facts and stories, that are given, have come from several different sources. Some of the facts may be different than you have heard or are used to hearing. I am not saying that every detail is true beyond doubt, especially when it comes to dates and places. I have found differing opinions, not just on Hamp's life, but on many others. So what I have done is put the facts and stories together as best as I know how, with what I have. Ok? Good.
