EARLE, CRITTENDEN COUNTY, ARKANSAS

(Tyronza Township)

Location: North on Hwy 149, about 5 miles from Earle, to Hwy 42, Twist intersection. Turn left, go about 1/4 mile, HOOD farm on right. Cemetery is on Hood Road, private land, old HOOD Home Place.

The stones are numbered.  NS after entry means no stone erected.

The notes are from Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hood.

She was born in Cherry Valley, the daughter of William Robinson who was born in Earle, and Jennie Thursday who was born in Gilmore. She was age 38 yrs, 2 mos, and 12 days. The informant was her husband, J. R. Hood of Earle. She was buried at Earle by Holt & Sons.)

(Shelby County, TN death certificate - James S. Hood, son of J. W. Hood and Culp Cash, died at Kennedy VA Hospital in Memphis on Feb 11, 1950. He was born Apr 18, 1890 in Earle and was 59 years old at the time of his death. He was a farmer and resided at Box 553, Earle. He died of cardiac decompensation due to hypertensive cardiovascular disease, cardiac enlargement, myocardial insufficiency, class IV. Other conditions included cerebral arteriosclerosis with psychosis. He was buried at Earle by Holt Funeral Home on Feb 17, 1950.)

His parents were listed as Edward P. Hood and Dora Plate (Place).  His usual occupation was a mechanic. He was born at Earle and was buried at Earle by Holt Funeral Home on Jan 14, 1952. He was married, but name of spouse was not listed.)

The death certificate states her birth as July 11, 1881 by informant Everett Hood. The names of her parents were unknown. She was buried at Hood Cemetery on May 8, 1947 by National Funeral Home.)

HUMPHRIES, Paul Douglas - Born and Died in (July 5) 1939 in Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN.  Son of Lum Augusta Humphries and Maurine Elizabeth IRWIN.  Data on these two children given by their sister Caroline Humphries.

McCOY, Minnie [maiden name unknown] PITTMAN - NS - b. abt 1886, d. aft 1920.  Married first to Mr. Pittman and had children Bill and Walter.  Married second to Limon McCoy and had Inalee, R. R. and Thadius. Lymon McCoy is buried in Gibson Bayou Cemetery.

MURPHY, Maudie Lee Prince Borton, Jan 19, 1881 - June 1, 1932 (Married 1^st Oscar B. Borton; 2^nd T. J. Murphy; Hyacinth Hood's mother); (Shelby County, TN death certificate – Maud Murphy died at Baptist Hospital in Memphis of diabetes and gangrene of right leg. She was born in KY and was buried at Earle on Jun 2, 1932 by Holt Undertakers. The names of her parents were not given.)

PARKS, dau of Nancy Parks (not wife of Bobby Lee)

PARKS, Son (2 years old) of Bobby Lee Parks (I find a Shelby County, TN death certificate for Robert Gene Parks, son of Bobby Lee Parks and Eula Dillard, who died Aug 17, 1951 at age 18 from a gasoline tank explosion at Crawfordsville. He and both his parents are buried at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.)
