Origins and Migrations of the LYNN/LINN Family:
The Lynn's are believed to be Northern Irish or Scotch-Irish in
origin. Family tradition states that Andrew Sr. came over with his
parents from Ireland to Boston, Massachusetts in 1701, just a baby in his
mother's arms. Hence he is referred to as Andrew Lynn "Babe in
Arms" to differentiate him from the many other Andrew Lynn's in
America.
The authoritative book on this Lynn family was written by Eliza B.
Lynn, "Genealogy of Colonel Andrew Lynn, Jr., and Mary Aschercraft
Johnson and their Descendants." This of course only follows the
family until the time of publication, and many members had already moved
westward, including my own.
