Origins and Migrations of the Drevlo Family:
The name DREVLO was originally spelled DREWLO - but, in
German, would be pronounced as with a "V." Not much is
known prior to the family immigrating from Russia, via Hamburg, Germany in
February 1899. Family traditions state that they lived in Russia,
even though they were ethnic Germans. The exact reasons for
immigrating are unknown, but the economic situation in the Baltic regions
was not very good at that time. The family came through Ellis
Island, New York in March, 1899 and settled in Pittsburgh, PA, where the
family remained until the mid 1920's. At that time, most members of
the family decided to move on to Southern California, where most members
remain today.
